THE SPORT OF POLO
Polo is one of the oldest team sports in history and is eloquently known as the "Sport of Kings". A popular sport for the spectator and equestrian enthusiast.
The modern form of polo originated in India and was propagated by officers of the British military in the mid 19th century and is now popular around the globe with well over 100 member countries in the Federation of International Polo.
LEARN TO PLAY POLO
Poway polo club offers both private and group lessons by qualified USPA certified instructors. No previous polo or riding experience is required.
All lessons are individualized to your level of experience and goals within the sport. The focus of our instruction is to provide a safe learning environment where riding skills, the technical aspects of hitting, and comprehension of the game are improved.
OUR POLO FACILITY
The Poway polo club plays and practices at Poway Valley Riders Association equestrian center. The equestrian center is located in the heart of old Poway centrally located to many San Diego country communities.
The 14-acres of multi-discipline arenas and riding areas for horse enthusiasts of all ages, disciplines, and levels is home to our regulation size polo arena.

Poway polo club founded in 1975 has been a proud purveyor of polo and equestrian activities in the San Diego area for over 4o years. A rich heritage exists at the club since its inception with a track record of former and current professionals polo players beginning their careers in the sport on the same arena where our current club members and interscholastic team practices and plays.
Our current club is an official member of the United States Polo Association (USPA) and boasts a very successful interscholastic and adult program. Our interscholastic program presents the opportunity for our young members to learn the game and progress their equestrian and polo skills in a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere. The adult program creates a fun and inviting atmosphere for the beginner to the more advanced level player to learn and improve their skills in the game of polo.
